Internet Usage

In this new digital age, everything is done online; banking, shopping and emails. Everything is done through search engines which make money of people searching the Internet using their engine. Companies like Google and Ask Jeeves. Another major usage of the Internet is through social networking. Being able to sharing photos, videos, and chat to friends all via the Internet has taken the world by storm in the last couple of years.

My normal Internet usage could be compared to the theory of David Buckingham about The Creative Audience. Buckingham believes it is essential to situate young peoples media use within the context of their other social activities and experiences due to the fact that many young people are using the media as a "wallpaper", a wall of noise to fill up "down time", or just to pass time due to boredom.
This is likely to sum up many young peoples experiences on the Internet that many of their interactions with the media on the Internet are not contrived, committed, or concentrated but fleeting, visceral and meaningless.
For example so when I use the internet, most of the time it is due to boredom. 9 times out of 10 I have nothing to actually do on the internet, so I simply browse the web looking at interesting things such as Facebook, checking my emails etc.

I can use apply the Theory of the Pix 'n' Mix Reader, where by I use texts and choose to ignore some aspects of them and choose the aspects that suit me at the time. The next time I would search, I may 'pick and mix' a different menu.
